Karen Brady stole West Ham from its fans
I don't buy this argument:

"They would rightly have been accused of dereliction of duty and a lack of vision if they had ignored the opportunity offered a couple of miles away from the Boleyn Ground."

http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/john-dillon-karren-brady-s-unfortunate-no-culture-speech-lit-the-bonfire-built-by-west-ham-s-london-a3362936.html

A fig leaf for what really has happened. The rebranding (the "London" on the badge to make selling tickets to tourists through adverts in the Metro easier) is theft.

She knows what she has done, and I believe the 'no culture' remark was done knowingly too. It was ostensibly about 'business' culture, but she knows how media headlines are created and it was actually a coded put down to the fans and wink to her social circle. A great big "fuck off, you chavs".

She makes Paul Ince look like Di Canio.

Sold...

I was deemed too young for a ticket in 1975, but remember the street party in Rathbone Street very well.

I was at Wembley in 1980 and my whole point is that I want that again and to be with my son when it happens. I have a brother 3 years younger than me who has been waiting all his life.

The correlation between income and trophies is obvious and yes we have to sell our soul to the devil to get there but having lived through the past 36 years of nothing but disappointment I want at least a shot at glory?

I will never forget the Boleyn, it was my second home and right now it still feels strange going somewhere new but that will pass and when I look at how many young fans are now going to Stratford it gives me me great hope for the future. I hope one of them gets to see a shiny trophy being carried around the stadium when they are 13 and its not 36 plus years for the next one.

You haven't been looking at scenes of the stadium being half empty the last couple of home games. You also don't read the Metro or the Evening Standard, I presume, where the club are taking out full page adverts to sell tickets to home games.

So rebranding with 'London' will bring in tourist fans.. ?

I've supported west ham for years and I cant get a fuckin ticket. So how is a random tourist supposed to get one?

COOL HAND LUKE,

RE: "I made the point way back that we would be the natural victims of a concerted gentrification of the crowd once we were in the OS, and of course got roundly cunted off for it at the time.

And here we are. Some say Brady just wants to fill the stadium, has no interest in the make up of the crowd, and does not even understand the correlation between old skool fans and the 'soul' of the club anyway.

I disagree.

I think she understands it all too fucking well...

More than any other London club, you sense we have been reinvented to attract the football tourists and the big earners in the city who have no affiliation and can afford to buy three or four season tickets across the city and suit themselves who they watch each week (hence just one of the reasons for the gaps in the crowd).

These people are the footballing equivalent of Stepford Wives, checking the squad lists on the back of their programmes every time we pass the fucking ball. And it's an homogenization of sorts too: they have just turned up, they don't really belong, and already they want the rest of us to do it 'their' way."

Good points succinctly made and extremely relevant. I didn't read your original post that was badly received, but supporters have to be ready to receive that information.

That you have predicted and so eloquently seen through the 'smoke and mirrors' and spelled out what is apparently going on in your post made me recall this article;

West Ham vice chairman Karren Brady insists London stadium move has been "well received"

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/west-ham-vice-chairman-karen-8984882

Please take time to load the mirror website and scroll down to the fourth photograph, with the caption;

'Brady watches on at the London Stadium'

I thought it odd when I saw the photograph...

There is the Duchess of Knightsbridge sitting with, I suppose her husband, on two seats in a row of two seats, glass partitioned away from those sitting below and around her...

It would appear IMHO, that the Duchess of Knightsbridge wants to be any where near a crowd...

Good post COOL HAND LUKE, sadly I think you are correct in your assessment.

a group of us were "persuaded" to upgrade from our old seats in the BMU to row 70 in the West stand and we're bloody miles away from the pitch there are only about 6 rows higher than us so God knows were the cheaper ST's are, must be on the fucking roof!

The views may be fine to some but to me, a lot of the views are shit.
Very reparely ahve I read anything better than the views are fine, I've yet to read superb or excellent views.
I sit in upper tier row 50 in band 1 seat, good overall of game but players are tiny. Struggle at times to know who has the and not being rascist but a lot harder when it's a black player. I've ad people around me say, that's as kouyate, Valencia, Antonio, not one absolutely sure.
For a band 1 seat it's shit imo.

Re: Karen Brady stole West Ham from its fans
Think many are getting the view confused with actually being able to know what you're looking at.

The view from the top of the Eiffel Tower is no doubt superb and you can see for miles around, but doesn't mean you know what you're actually looking at.

Same as the upper tier in the OS, sightlines are great, but all you know is if a player is black or white.

It's like going to darts. You don't actually watch the stage but Tue big screens, as otherwise you haven't a Scooby what numbers they're hitting.

Re: Karen Brady stole West Ham from its fans
Fans who hate the stadium complain about trivial shit like too much ugly-looking concrete and the wrong shade of astro-turf on the sidelines. All camp/old women moans.

Their views are fine - which is the main fucking thing that you want from your seat.

I hope these fans fuck off for good. They're not real fans and they're not proper blokes. They're the new breed, tight jeans, plucked eyebrows, fake tan, metrosexual brigade.

Green street

Are you really unhappy with the view ? From what I've read it looks like even people who hate the stadium haven't complained about this.

Agree and trouble is, while other clubs may have developed stadiums to suit their football needs, our stadium bowl was too far away as a starting point to develop into.

Quite literally, trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

It is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. But we have been told to make do and mend.
Can only be West Ham.

Re: Karen Brady stole West Ham from its fans
I dont know if this is true but it seems to me west ham have tried to do this on the cheap, how much money has the club actually spent on the stadium? They got it for next to nothing the least they could have done was made it suitable for football, i think had that been the case the majority would have embraced it. As it is though it's poor in my veiw and with the attempted alienating of us its a fucking disaster. I guess its typical west ham, get a golden opportunity and fuck it right up for the sake of a few quid. Also i believe gold and Sullivan are only concerned about their premium, i didn't think that was the case previously but its abundantly clear now.

I'd rather we were at least competing if not winning more games, regardless of the venue.

Re: Karen Brady stole West Ham from its fans
I personally would rather still be at Upton Park. We were unlucky in that the sky money diluted the effectiveness of the move. But the atmosphere in 114 and probably 115 is a lot better than the bml was at Upton Park.

Gentile, pray do explain why this particular view should be encouraged and other views, for example atheist views regarding God/religion and all that he/she/it stands for should be ignored or deleted from this forum?

Selective editing my man and in my book this is unacceptable and just un-Christian.
